The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University of Antwerp will only process applications of medical students:

who are at least in their 4th year at the time of application;
who have a good command of English, oral as well as written, and a thorough knowledge of medical English (min. level B2).
who have carefully read the guidelines to apply for clinical internships on our website, including the Frequently Asked Questions related to clinical internships.

Available disciplines are: Internal Medicine (endocrinology, gastro-enterology, intensive care, nephrology, oncology, pneumology, infectious diseases, hematology, immunology), Anaesthesiology, Radiology, Gynaecology/Obstetrics, Neurology and Surgery. The Internal Medicine and Surgery departments allocate students to subdisciplines based on availability.

I understand that the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences gives priority to students from Erasmus+ and non-EU partner universities

I understand that the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences cannot guarantee my first choice as this depends on number of applicants and availability of the department in the hospital

I understand that allocation is done by the international office of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences during the summer months and that the office cannot give final confirmation of the clinical internship before summer nor can sign any document for provisional approval

I understand that clinical internships are full-time (ca. 40 hours per week) and that presence in the hospital is required every day of the week

I understand that I will have to undergo a medical screening before the start of the internship. For that screening, I understand I need to provide medical documents two months prior to the start of the internship
